Drive it like you stole it.......sometimes!

« on: March 06, 2010, 08:34:57 PM »

For the guys who doesn't have anything to do tomorrow, there's an autocross event at Mackinley near The Fort  starting 9am. Anyone who wishes to try their driving skills are welcome to join. Please bring your helmets and some entry fee money (Around P1000 usually) and have a good time! I'll be there around 930 to 10:00. YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A PRO TO JOIN. I assure you, it will be a lot of fun and a good experience for beginners. If you don't know the way just call me at my cell #09175030913. See you there!!

I think Alex's red manta has a Mitsu L200 or pajero engine.

You are correct. That blue Caterham came out 2nd overall at it's first outing in Bulacan the other weekend.

ANo nga ba ang caterham?  Something to check sa internet.  Parang style go-cart with shell when I was growing up.  Laruan namin sa di-padyak -- make believe that we were racers  Grin  next na meron autocross samin ... tyak pasyal ako.  sana pde na ang manta by that time  Wink

Bishop!

Have you started on the engine swap already? I suggest you strenghten the body by stitching up the seams with a mig welder. Also I suggest you replace the whole drivetrain (tranny and diff) and all suspension bushes and steering components that are worn out. I would advise also installing at least a 6 point roll cage and harness just to be safe. Hehehe! And the brakes too!!! What are your plans for the brakes? Check this out:

http://www.hoppers.com.au/complete%20leaflet%20FEB%202007/index.html (check out Gemini TX/TG)

and universal upgrades.

Hi Nosmanta!

Haven't done the engine swap yet.  The mechanic is still finishing his racing car.  Which is fine by me, at least when he start working with the Manta, full focus na siya.

Thanks for the suggestions.  We "might" add stiffeners and work on the seams selectively.  We will add a roll cage and considering the design.   Tranny we will replace but may keep the differential for the meantime.  Same with the brakes .... we'll see how everything works and make the mods as we go along.

I just bought a FMIC, boost regulator and a pair of old school recaro seats.  I have a pair of steering wheels also ... one for racing and another for show.   Grin

I have not ordered the tail and head lights yet as snow is still heavy in the US.  I'm afraid, it will be lost in courier transit to my sis house.  Will wait until the weather gets better.

I'm having a hard time finding proper rims for the manta.  There was a thread by manta-ray I believe, he mentioned PCD 100, 20 offset and 13 inches x max of 7 inches to avoid body works.  Are those accurate?  Bka mali ako  Roll Eyes

I wanted to use 14" x7 inches rims  but it's not easy to find.  Found a compomotive but pcd 114.

cheers!

Correct. 15x7 and 20et offset would be perfect. This would also be ok if later you would upgrade the brakes.  By the way, who is your mechanic? Baka kilala ko. Cheeers!
